NDIS plan management Moreton Bay: plan manager and participant reviewing spending by budget

What NDIS Plan Management Is

Plan management is a support in its own right. A registered plan manager receives invoices from the providers you choose, checks each one against your plan and the NDIS Pricing Arrangements, claims the money from the NDIA and pays the provider. You keep the decisions about what supports you use and who delivers them. The plan manager keeps the money moving and the records straight.

It is funded separately. When you ask for plan management, the NDIA adds a budget called Improved Life Choices to your plan to pay for it. None of your support funding is used. That is worth repeating, because participants in Moreton Bay still tell us they were warned plan management would cost them support hours. It will not.

What Our Moreton Bay Plan Managers Do

Moreton Bay stretches from the peninsula across the North Lakes corridor to Caboolture and the island, and providers are spread just as widely. Our plan managers keep the invoices from all of them straight so that you only ever have to look at one statement.

Paying Provider Invoices

Your providers send invoices to us, not to you. We check each one for the right support item, dates, hours and rate, then pay it. You can approve every invoice yourself or have us process the routine ones and only refer unusual items to you.

Budget Tracking and Monthly Statements

A monthly statement shows what each budget has used and what is left, set against how far through the plan you are. If you are heading for a shortfall or leaving money unspent, we tell you while there is still time to adjust.

Claims With the NDIA

We lodge every claim in the NDIS portal and chase the ones that come back rejected or sit unpaid. The portal is our problem, not yours.

Checking Prices Against the NDIS Pricing Arrangements

Each invoice is measured against the current NDIS price limits and support rules, including the loadings for evenings, weekends and public holidays, and the rules on travel and cancellations. Charges that do not comply are queried before payment.

Using Unregistered Providers in Moreton Bay

Across the City of Moreton Bay, a lot of valuable supports come from unregistered providers: independent support workers in Kallangur or Morayfield, private allied health clinicians on the peninsula, small cleaning and gardening businesses, and community programs on Bribie Island. An NDIA-managed plan cannot pay any of them. A plan-managed plan can, provided the support is reasonable and necessary and fits within your plan.

This is the single biggest practical advantage of plan management in a region like this one. You can choose a worker who lives nearby rather than one travelling from Brisbane, keep a therapist who has decided not to register, and get started sooner when the registered organisations are full. We still check unregistered providers' invoices against the price limits and still insist on proper invoicing.

Independent Plan Managers vs MediHealth Connect

MediHealth Connect is not an independent plan manager. An independent plan manager delivers plan management only. We also deliver community nursing in Moreton Bay, Moreton Bay support coordination and other supports, so there can be times when we are paying an invoice that we issued.

We are open about how that is managed. Plan management is handled by its own team. MediHealth Connect invoices go through the same checks as any other provider's and appear on your statement like any other line. You can use a different plan manager whenever you choose, and no service we provide depends on you using another. If you would rather your plan manager had no other role in your plan, say so and we will help you find one.

Areas We Cover in Moreton Bay

We manage plans for participants across the City of Moreton Bay. Plan management is delivered by phone, email and secure online tools, so it works the same whether you are in Strathpine or on Bribie Island. Participants leaving Redcliffe Hospital or Caboolture Hospital with new supports in their plan can have those providers set up for payment before discharge.

NDIS Plan Management Moreton Bay: Frequently Asked Questions

Does plan management come out of my core supports budget?

No. The NDIA funds plan management through Improved Life Choices, a budget added specifically for that purpose. Your core, capacity building and capital budgets are unaffected.

How do I add plan management to my NDIS plan?

Ask your NDIA planner or local area coordinator to make your plan plan-managed. You can raise it at your planning meeting, at a review, or by requesting a variation mid-plan. When Improved Life Choices appears in your plan, you can engage any registered plan manager.

Can I use unregistered providers in Moreton Bay if I'm plan managed?

Yes. Plan management lets you pay unregistered providers, which covers many independent support workers, private clinicians and small local businesses across Moreton Bay. The support must be reasonable and necessary within your plan. Some supports, including any involving regulated restrictive practices, must still be provided by a registered provider.

How quickly do you pay provider invoices?

We pay each invoice as soon as it has passed our checks against your plan and the NDIS price limits and the claim has gone through. Our current processing times are set out in your service agreement rather than promised on a website. Where you have chosen to approve invoices first, we wait for your approval.

Can I switch plan managers mid-plan?

Yes. Give your current plan manager notice under your agreement, sign with the new plan manager, and the two agree a handover date. Your plan and funding stay the same throughout.

Can the same provider be my plan manager and support coordinator?

Yes, provided the provider manages the conflict of interest. MediHealth Connect delivers both in Moreton Bay with separate teams, applies the same invoice checks to its own services as to anyone else's, and makes sure you know you can choose a different provider for either role at any time.
